Tbilisi police arrest man for possession of especially large amount of drugs

Officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department have arrested a man on charges related to the illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Monday.

The suspect, identified as G.B., born in 2002, has a lengthy criminal history, having been convicted multiple times in the past and is currently under probation. Authorities detained him after a personal search led to the discovery of a large quantity of the drug methadone.

Under Georgian law, the charges he faces carry a potential sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
