The first stage of the essay competition is being held today at the "European University", organized by the University and the Embassy of France.
The participants of the competition were welcomed by the Ambassador of France Diego Colas and the Rector of "European University" Nino Taliashvili. Davit Lominashvili, Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia was also present at the event.
As the rector of "European University" Nino Taliashvili noted, the interest in the competition is quite high.
"This event is very important for the European University. We contribute to our civic responsibility to promote European institutions and European values among young people, especially when, by 2024, our country intends to apply for full EU membership." – said Nino Taliashvili.
According to the Ambassador of France to Georgia Diego Colas, similar interest in the essay competition on the European future of Georgia is a proof that young people in Georgia support European and democratic values.
"A month ago, we announced an essay competition for young people in Georgia to promote European values. I would like to thank the European University for organizing the competition with us. Some of the students attend the competition in Tbilisi, as well as in Kutaisi, Batumi, and some of them from different regions go online, which is a great success and proves that young people in Georgia support European values, democratic values, support the development of Georgia and it is very gratifying for me.
"I believe that the aspirations of these young people towards European values are the main potential in the relations between Georgia and the European Union," Diego Kolas said.
The second stage of the competition will be held on March 7 at Kutaisi University, and for those who are physically unable to participate in the competition for various reasons, including from mountainous regions, the second stage will be held today at 16:00 via online zoom.
The essay competition organized by the European University and the Embassy of France on the topic "Georgia's European Future" is open to 11th-12th grade students from both private and public schools, with the aim of promoting European values and European integration processes. , Raising awareness of the importance of Georgia 's rapprochement with the European family, understanding democracy, human rights and the rule of law as European values.
It should be noted that the competition is held within the framework of "Europe Days 2021" and the winner will be symbolically announced on May 9, "Europe Day" The award ceremony will be held at the residence of the French Embassy
