A delegation from Georgia’s opposition United National Movement (UNM) is continuing its official visit to the United States.
The party’s press office on Thursday said the UNM Chairperson Tina Bokuchava had participated in a discussion organised by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a leading US think tank, focusing on the political situation in Georgia.
Speaking at the event, Bokuchava criticised the ruling Georgian Dream party, accusing it of collaborating with Russia, China, and Iran and straying from Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic course. She also outlined measures she believed the United States should take to help Georgia overcome the crisis and expressed confidence that popular protest in Georgia would soon yield results, supported by international partners, particularly the US.
Bokuchava also highlighted the issue of “political prisoners” in Georgia, including former President Mikheil Saakashvili, whom she described as “Putin’s personal prisoner” for resisting Russian influence. She emphasised the UNM’s commitment to defending Georgia’s sovereignty and democratic path, with support from the international community.
