US President Donald Trump has said military strikes against Iran could resume if Washington and Tehran fail to reach a final agreement on Iran's nuclear programme, with further negotiations expected in the near future.
In an interview with The New York Times, Trump said he was prepared to return to a military option if the two sides were unable to secure a comprehensive deal. He warned that the possibility of new strikes would remain on the table should the negotiating process collapse.
The US president also described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "very difficult person" and said the Israeli leader should be grateful for the role the United States has played in efforts to curb Iran's nuclear programme.
