US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had a "very good and productive" phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during which they discussed multiple global issues, including the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump said Erdoğan invited him to visit Turkey in the future and that the Turkish leader would also travel to Washington, D.C. Reflecting on their past collaboration, Trump recalled their successful efforts during his presidency, notably Erdoğan's role in securing the release of imprisoned American pastor Andrew Brunson.
“I look forward to working with President Erdoğan on getting the ridiculous, but deadly, War between Russia and Ukraine ended — NOW!” Trump wrote, suggesting he sees a role for Erdoğan in future peace efforts.
