Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili may arrive in Ukraine separately with a delegation members he will select, while the Georgian MPs who wish to visit the war-torn country may have to compose another delegation, head of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Irakli Kobakhidze stated today.

Papuashvili announced earlier today that he is ready to visit Ukraine and meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Kobakhidze says that  procedures related to foregn trips of parliamentary speakers are different and their delegations include not many people.

He said that it is up to Papuashvili how he will compose the delegation.

Kobakhidze said that visiting Ukraine along with the representatives of the “war party,” referring to the United National Movement opposition, was unacceptable for him.

He stated that Papuashvili’s visit aims to express solidarity with Ukraine and regulate bilateral relations.
