Ukraine and Russia have carried out another prisoner exchange, with each side releasing 150 captives. The exchange was confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“We are bringing back 150 of our defenders from Russian captivity. These include soldiers, sergeants, and officers—members of the Navy who were captured in Mariupol and Zaporizhzhia, as well as fighters from the Air Force, Air Assault Forces, Ground Forces, National Guard, Border Guard, Territorial Defense, and Police. They come from different fronts, but they share one thing in common: they fought for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote on his official page.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the 150 released Russian servicemen are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving psychological and medical assistance and have been given the opportunity to contact their families. They will later be transferred to Russia for further treatment and rehabilitation.
The previous prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine took place on January 15 under the “25-for-25” formula.
