The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tuesday confirmed that Ukrainian troops were fighting in the area of the villages of Zaporizhzhya and Novogeorgievka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, but assured these settlements were not yet occupied.

“The Ukrainian Defence Forces have stopped the advance of the Russian invaders and continue to control the village of Zaporizhske, despite all the efforts of the enemy, who is trying to capture this settlement”, the statement reads.

“Active hostilities are also ongoing in the area of the village of Novogeorgiyevka, where our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on the enemy, destroying dozens of occupiers every day. Information about the occupation of both of these settlements by the Russians is not true”, it says.

Earlier, the analytical media project Deep State reported that Russian forces had captured the villages of Zaporozhske and Novogeorgiyivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to analysts, these were the first settlements to be occupied in the region. At the same time, Deep State analysts noted that the occupying forces had already been conducting combat operations for some time both along the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region and within its territory, specifically in the Maliivka area.
