Ukrainian Public Advocate Denisova dismissed after accusations on cooperation with Russians

The Ukrainian state legislature declared no confidence in the Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova on Tuesday and suspended her authority. 

The Ukrainian media has reported that  234 MPs voted against Denosova. The specific reason for her dismissal has nor been identified so far. 

Denisova claimed that an “anti-constitutional” mechanism was used to dismiss her from the post she had occupied since March 15, 2018.On April 27 of this year former Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on the rights of the children, Mykola Kuleba, accused Denisova of providing information to the Russian invaders. 

Kuleba claimed that Denisova informed Russians about the whereabouts of 58 children in Kherson after which the invaders transported the children to Crimea. 

Denisova said yesterday that the Presidentʼs Office was not satisfied with her activities as Ombudswoman to collect and analyze information on human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories.

She said such actions of the authorities were illegal and said that her daughter, who worked with the victims of the occupation, has already been summoned for questioning three times.
