UN: almost 2.7 mln refugees flee Ukraine

The United Nations refugee agency says that as of March 12 more than 2.69 million people have left Ukraine since Russia’s invasion began on February 24. 

 

UNHCR says the total from Friday to Saturday had increased by about 100,000.

 

The UN says that 1.65 million of the Ukrainian refugees — about 60 percent — have crossed the Polish border.

 

It says more than 240,000 refugees are in Hungary, 190,000 in Slovakia, 100,000 in Moldova, 80,000 in Romania and 100,000 in Russia.
