UN suspends Russia from Human Rights Council

The United Nations General Assembly suspended Russia from the UN Human Rights Council over ‘gross and systematic violations and abuses of human rights’ in Ukraine on April 7.

The US-led initiative to suspend Russia from the Council was supported by 93 countries – including Georgia, whereas 24 countries voted against the suspension and 58 abstained from voting.
