Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party has once again urged the public to take to the street, saying “there should be 200,000 at least, not 10,000 or 15,000 on Rustaveli Avenue,” in Tbilisi.
Speaking for journalists today, Khabeishvili said that the people should perceive the protests “as a referendum to end the rule of Russia’s party in Georgia,” referring to the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.
He noted that the rallies should be agreed with the civil sector and other opposition actors.
Responding to today’s trial hearing in Tbilisi City Court where ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili asked for a doctor, Khabeishvili said that the current authorities would not escape responsibility if something bad happens to the third president “considering his poor health.”
Saakashvili also called on the public today to take to the street.
