Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party says that the opposition will leave for Ukraine separately from the delegates of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

“The opposition will go with a separate delegation, as we wished for this from the beginning. This is the right position,” Dekanoidze has stated.

She noted that an “internal controversy” over going to Ukraine “is really hard when our friends are at war.”

“However, it is good that the opposition has remained united and will pay a separate visit to Ukraine. I  hope this unity will be maintained,” Dekanoidze said.

Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said yesterday that he would  visit Ukraine in the coming days, stating that he would staff a delegation for the trip.

He said that considering war in Ukraine, the delegation could not be large and all political parties would not be represented in it.

However, later the ruling party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze said that they were ready to include a single representative from all political parties in the delegation who supported Ukraine in the war.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation is expected to leave for Kyiv at the end of this week.
