The United National Movement (UNM) opposition party, which is dubbed as a ‘destructive opposition’ by the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, has offered a bill which proposes the tightening of the country’s law on the occupied territories.
The bill says that those who have participated in any way, or still participate in the occupation and military aggression of Georgian and Ukrainian territories, should be barred from entering Georgia and carrying out economic activities.
The UNM says that restrictions should apply to all individuals and legal entities engaged in the occupation and military aggression of the territories of Georgia and Ukraine, as well as to the individuals sanctioned by the EU or NATO member states due to military aggression and occupation.
The bill reads that all individuals and legal entities which had violated the Law on the Occupied Territories should be prohibited from engaging in any economic (entrepreneurial or non-entrepreneurial) activity on the territory of Georgia, regardless of whether it is carried out for profit, income or compensation.
Also, all types of legal entities operating in Georgia should be prohibited from receiving funding directly or indirectly from all individuals and legal entities that had violated the law.
According to the same bill, foreign citizens and stateless persons who had violated the law should be banned from entering Georgia.
