The United National Movement (UNM) opposition, the party which was founded by ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, claims that the former president is really in Georgia ahead of tomorrow’s elections and that he will release more videos.
Saakashvili released a video allegedly from Batumi yesterday and stated that has put his life at risk by returning to Georgia after eight years.
He urged voters to vote for the UNM in the municipal elections and take to the street on October 3.
The ruling party claims that the video is fake.
Eka Kherkheulidze from the UNM has held a media briefing earlier today in which she said that she has already contacted Saakashvili.
“He is in Georgia and he will release more videos in the coming hours,” Kherkheulidze said.
Kherkheulidze stated that Saakashvili’s return will boost the support of the UNM in the forthcoming race.
