US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan has hosted Ukrainian Ambassador to Georgia Igor Dolhov ‘to emphasize the US-Ukraine close cooperation’ and support for Ukraine and Georgia’s Western aspirations, as well as ‘to discuss Russia’s destabilizing and aggressive actions and the current situation in Ukraine.’

The US and NATO are currently involved in talks with Russia to ease tension and remove threats of invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The international community has warned Russia of ‘very negative consequences’ if it takes the step.

Russia is demanding  NATO to break its promise given to Georgia and Ukraine back in 2008 on the future membership.

The country, which currently occupies Georgian and Ukrainian territories, claims that the NATO enlargement poses threats to its security.
