The US has provided a written response to Russia over the current tension in Ukraine, also addressing Russia’s demands NATO to never add Georgia and Ukraine as new members.

“There is no change. There will be no change,” US State Secretary Antony Blinken has stated.

“We make clear that there are core principles that we are committed to uphold and defend, including Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the right of states to choose their own security arrangements and alliances,” he added.

The response is intended to address concerns Moscow has publicly released and to outline areas where the US sees a room for progress with Russia — arms control and transparency and stability.

A follow-up meeting is expected to take place between the US and Russian officials in the coming days.
