The United States will send an additional $800 million in military aid to Ukraine, US President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday, following a call with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I just spoke with President Zelenskyy and shared with him that my Administration is authorizing an additional $800 million in weapons, ammunition, and other security assistance to Ukraine,” he said.

The US president added the new package of assistance would include ‘artillery systems, artillery rounds, and armored personnel carriers.’

Biden further noted he had assured Zelensky the US would continue supporting the Ukrainian people ‘in their fight for freedom.’
