Vaccination against COVID-19 begins in Georgia, health workers are the first to be vaccinated

Vaccinations of medical personnel began in Georgia on Monday.
The first person vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine was an allergist at one of the clinics in the city of Zugdidi, Lana Ubilava. Georgian TV channels broadcast this process live.
The first batch of AstraZeneca vaccine doses (43,200 doses) arrived in Georgia at the end of last week. According to the Ministry of Health, this batch is designed to vaccinate medical personnel.
As the head of the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia Amiran Gamkrelidze said at a briefing on Monday, it is planned to vaccinate at least 65% of the country's adult population (1 million 700 thousand people) by the end of the year.
According to the Ministry of Health of Georgia, 159 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in the country over the past 24 hours, two people have died.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 275 thousand 148 cases of infection have been confirmed in Georgia, 3 thousand 650 people have died.
