The Georgian government is committed to establishing the country as a modern technology hub, offering ideal conditions for highly qualified professionals, according to Georgian Dream MP Vakhtang Turnava. Speaking about Georgia’s 2030 Strategic Development Vision, Turnava emphasized that the advancement of the technology sector is a key prerequisite for economic sustainability and innovation.
Turnava stated that several key measures have been implemented to attract tech professionals and companies in recent years. The registration process for internationally recognized tech companies has been simplified, and the tax rate has been reduced to 5%. Individual IT specialists who register as entrepreneurs now benefit from a significantly lower tax rate, paying just 1% for annual income up to 500,000 GEL and 3% for earnings exceeding this threshold.
Additionally, the process of obtaining residency rights for highly qualified foreign professionals in the tech sector has been streamlined, making it easier for international talent to relocate to Georgia. He emphasized that these efforts have been complemented by an improvement in Georgia’s global rankings, with the country now considered one of the safest places to live.
”As a result of these efforts, over the past three years, the information technology and communications sector has become the highest-paid industry in Georgia, with an average monthly salary of 7,000 GEL. Additionally, the IT sector has recorded the fastest employment growth in the country,” the MP noted.
Turnava stressed the importance of maintaining this progress while advancing to the next stage of development. He highlighted the need for a strong global awareness campaign, direct negotiations with leading international tech companies, and efforts to increase both the local workforce and the attraction of foreign talent.
”By ensuring that professionals can relocate to Georgia with ease, obtain residency rights, and seamlessly integrate into the workforce, the country can further strengthen its position as a global technology hub,” he added.
