Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi on Wednesday identified the Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Novopavlivka areas as the most active frontlines in eastern Ukraine, emphasising that troops were both defending and liberating territory from Russian forces.

He reported Russian troops had also intensified pressure in the north of Donetsk Oblast, particularly along the Lyman front.

“Our units are engaged in heavy defensive battles against superior Russian forces, holding back assaults and in some areas launching counteractions”, Syrskyi said.

Following consultations with brigade and corps commanders, Syrskyi said he had made the necessary decisions to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive resilience.

“We are defending and liberating Ukrainian territory. Units in Donetsk Oblast receive full support and reinforcements,” he added.

The commander-in-chief stressed that Ukraine’s armed forces were capable of carrying out their assigned missions despite the ongoing intensity of the fighting.
