The vice-mayor of Tbilisi announced on Tuesday that water supply to more than 63,000 families will be restored within a week, in comments with journalists following a meeting with representatives of the Tbilisi water supply company, Georgian Water and Powers.

“These 63,000 subscribers will receive drinking water on schedule within a maximum of one week. It will take a maximum of one week to fully restore the current situation,” Irakli Bendeliani said.

GWP on Monday reported that a central pipeline near the village of Tsitsamuri, which supplies water to Tbilisi, was damaged, resulting in a water supply stoppage for 110,000 families. Out of these, 63,351 families will receive a limited water supply until the damage is fully repaired. According to GWP the damaged section of the pipeline is in difficult-to-reach terrain, which poses a risk of landslides.

Additionally, GWP explained that subscribers affected by the emergency interruption will receive water through alternative means for a duration of three to seven hours each day and night.
