Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he would agree to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Switzerland, Austria, or Turkey.
Zelenskyy noted that holding a summit in a neutral European country was entirely justified, given that the war was taking place on Ukrainian and European soil. He said discussions involving the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia should take place in a neutral location.
“I said we will agree. Switzerland, Austria – we agree. Turkey? Turkey is part of NATO and Europe for us, and we have no objections,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president also ruled out Budapest as a potential venue. “Today it does not seem easy. This is not simple, because of the unity among European countries in supporting Ukraine during the war. To be honest, Budapest did not support us. I am not saying Orbán’s policy was against Ukraine, but it was against supporting Ukraine,” he added.
