Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday announced he will meet US President Donald Trump in Washington, on Monday to discuss “all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war.”
In a statement posted on social media, Zelenskyy said Ukraine “reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace.”
The president described his latest call with Trump as “long and substantive,” starting with one-on-one talks and later joined by European leaders.
“President Trump informed about his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of their discussion. It is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation”, Zelenskyy said.
He voiced support for Trump’s proposal to hold a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, stressing that “key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and a trilateral format is suitable for this.”
Zelenskyy emphasised that European involvement at every stage is essential for ensuring reliable security guarantees alongside the US. He added that he received “positive signals” from Washington about US participation in Ukraine’s long-term security arrangements.
“We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. I thank everyone who is helping”, Zelenskyy said.
