Ukraine is preparing for a new round of negotiations with the United States and Russia later this week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, following recent trilateral discussions held in the United Arab Emirates.

Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian delegation had already presented the outcomes of the talks with US and Russian representatives. He described the meeting as the first such three-way dialogue in a long time, aimed at finding pathways to end the war.

The President said the sides discussed a broad range of key issues, with a primary focus on military matters necessary for ending hostilities. Particular attention was also given to complex political aspects that remain unresolved.

Zelenskyy noted that the main positions of the parties were analysed during the meetings and that a framework for further diplomatic work was outlined.

He added that Ukraine is now actively preparing for additional trilateral meetings scheduled for this week.

The first round of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the US and Russia took place in Abu Dhabi last week and focused on exploring options for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Ukraine’s delegation described the dialogue as constructive, though the sides failed to reach agreement on territorial issues.
