Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday said Ukraine is ready to hold a new round of trilateral negotiations with Russia in Azerbaijan, if Moscow is prepared to engage in diplomacy.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Zelenskyy said the two leaders discussed ongoing peace efforts and the importance of bringing an end to the war.
“We discussed peace efforts for Ukraine. It is critically important for Ukraine that Russia finds the strength to end this unjust war,” Zelenskyy said.
He stressed that Kyiv values the mediation efforts of its international partners and remains open to further diplomatic engagement.
“I shared with the President of Azerbaijan that we are ready for trilateral negotiations. We have already held such talks in Turkey and Switzerland. We are prepared for such negotiations in Azerbaijan if Russia is ready for diplomacy,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian President also thanked Azerbaijan for the support it has provided during the war.
According to Zelenskyy, six bilateral documents were signed during his visit to Azerbaijan, with further details expected to be announced later.
