Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday said Ukraine will continue targeting Russian energy facilities as long as Russia maintains its attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

He added international partners had urged Kyiv to limit such strikes because of concerns over global energy markets, citing wider challenges in the global energy sector.

However, Zelenskyy said Ukraine could not accept such limitations while Russia continues daily attacks on Ukrainian territory.

He stated that Russia’s ongoing strikes on cities and infrastructure leave Ukraine with no alternative but to respond.

The President indicated that Ukraine would, in principle, be willing to consider a bilateral suspension of attacks on energy infrastructure, but noted that no official proposals on such an arrangement had yet been made.
