Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday said that Kyiv and Washington would jointly work on detailed points of a plan aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The announcement followed his meeting with US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll earlier the day, during which the sides discussed pathways to achieving peace and advancing a diplomatic roadmap.

“We discussed options for achieving real peace, work stages and dialogue formats, as well as a new diplomatic impulse. Our teams, Ukrainian and American, will work on the points of the plan to end the war,” Zelenskyy said.

The President added he briefed Driscoll on Russia’s recent strike on Ternopil using an Х-101 missile in 2025, noting the weapon contained 175 foreign components delivered to Russia through sanctions evasion. Zelenskyy said Kyiv hoped for US assistance in disrupting these supply schemes and provided information on the manufacturing companies behind key components, along with their countries of origin.

“Peace is necessary and we appreciate the efforts of President Trump and his team to restore security in Europe. Ukraine defends life and independence thanks to the courage of our people, national unity and support from our partners,” Zelenskyy stated.

Media reports on Wednesday revealed that the United States, in coordination with Russian officials, has been preparing a peace plan for Ukraine. The proposal was reportedly developed by US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Vladimir Putin’s representative Kirill Dmitriev and includes demands aligned with Moscow's positions, such as full Russian control over Donbas and a reduction of Ukraine’s armed forces.

The plan was formally delivered to Zelenskyy earlier today. The President’s Office highlighted that Ukraine would consider proposals that were “significant for achieving peace”.
