Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recalled the country’s Ambassador to Georgia Igor Dolgov ‘for consultations’ after Tbilisi refused to join sanctions against Russia and Tbilisi International Airport refused to allow a plane in to take Georgian volunteers to Ukraine to participate in the fight against Russia.

The Georgian PM stated last week that the country would not join sanctions against Russia as it would harm the interests of Georgians.

It was reported yesterday that a plane was not allowed in the Georgian capital which was scheduled to take Georgian volunteers to Ukraine to fight against Russia.

In the same evening Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal posted in Georgian on Twitter and urged Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili ‘to show courage’ and let the plane in.

Russia unleashed war against Ukraine last week, with thousands of Russian troops currently heading to Kyiv.

Prior to the invasion Russia demanded the US and NATO ‘not to pose threats for Russian security’ and the alliance to never add Georgia and Ukraine as new members.
