Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ukraine is a “backbone” of democratic processes in the region, and if the civilized world will not ensure genuine support for the country, especially in terms of weapons, Poland, Georgia, the Baltic States and others in the region will be the next target for Russian aggression and “dictatorship.”

Addressing the Portugalian parliament yesterday, Zelensky said that Ukraine is in need of weapons to stop Russia “which brings death and dictatorship,” requesting the country to hand over Leopard tanks, armored vehicles and anti-ship missiles -Harpoon to Ukraine.

“When we turn to the countries of the free world for help, we say something very simple and understandable: we need weapons to defend ourselves from the brutal Russian invasion that has brought our people as much evil as the Nazi aggression 80 years ago,” Zelensky said.
He also called on Portugal to support oil embargoes against Russia and sanctions on Russian banks.
