A support rally for Mzia Amaglobeli, the head of media outlets Batumelebi and Netgazeti, is underway in front of the Journalistic Ethics Charter office in Tbilisi. Demonstrators are demanding the immediate release of Amaglobeli and calling for the termination of Batumi Police Head Irakli Dgebuadze’s powers.

Following their gathering at the Journalistic Ethics Charter office, participants plan to join other protests planned in the area.

Parallel to the events in Tbilisi, a rally in support of Mzia Amaglobeli and other detained activists is also being held in Batumi.

Mzia Amaglobeli was arrested in Batumi on January 12 and faces charges under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to assaulting a police officer. In protest of her imprisonment, Amaglobeli has been on a hunger strike.
