Today the President of Ukraine and the First Lady visited Cherkasy region. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska paid tribute to classic of Ukrainian literature, writer, thinker, artist Taras Shevchenko.

In the Shevchenko National Reserve in Kanev, the President and his wife laid flowers at the tomb of Kobzar at Tarasova Hill.

Also during his working trip, Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena visited the new modern cultural center «Shevchenko HUB» in Kaniv.

The local cultural center seating 700 people was a long-time construction project. It was included in the National Program «Great Construction» and completed in 2021 in preparation for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukrainian independence. It is now an iconic modern cultural space in the region.

In addition to the HUB, the Cherkasy region will begin construction of an Ice Arena and sports complex in 2022 under the «Big Construction» program and restoration of three castles under the «Big Restoration» program.

«There is our program – these are big sports unique multi-complexes. One of them will be built in Cherkassy region, several more swimming pools. The Ice Arena will be built separately. All these programs will start next year. There are three castles that are included in the program as part of the «Big restoration», Zelensky told the media while on a working visit to Kanev, Cherkasy region.

He noted that within the framework of the program «Big restoration» documents on the restoration of the center of Kanev are also being prepared. In addition, he said, in 2022 the town will have a school with a sports ground for children and a swimming pool.

Speaking of roads, the President noted that within the framework of the current year it is planned to repair about 250 km of roads.

«I think that another couple of years and we will finish all the main roads in Cherkasy region,» - said Vladimir Zelensky.
