Orban promises to maintain his approach to the war in Ukraine in 2023 as well

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán promises to maintain the approach in the next year as well, under which Hungary will remain as far away from the war in Ukraine as possible.

Orban said this at the final press conference on Wednesday, writes the independent publication Telex.

Orbán called one of the notable achievements of his government this year that Hungary managed to "stay away" from the war in Ukraine. According to him, there are only those who lost in this war, which Orban considers to be the warring countries - Ukraine and Russia, as well as Europe, which suffers from sanctions and is experiencing an economic downturn.

"Europe is already drifting towards war. He who supplies weapons is ankle-deep in it, he who trains soldiers is waist-deep in it, he who trains an entire warring country is up to his ears in war," Orbán said, expressing hope that Europe will not be "up to the neck in the war".

According to him, next year, Hungary will continue to remain aloof, but will provide humanitarian aid to refugees from Ukraine.

Orbán also repeated his previous statement that he considers the existence of an independent and sovereign Ukraine to be in Hungary's national interest.
