Stoltenberg in Munich: We must increase aid to Kyiv

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calls to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to win the war against Russia.

"We can already learn some important lessons from this war. First, we must continue and increase our aid to Ukraine. Putin does not plan for peace, he plans to continue the war and launch new offensives. There is no evidence that his ambitions have changed. He is mobilizing hundreds thousands of troops, puts the economy on a war footing, turns to other authoritarian regimes like Iran and North Korea for more weapons," he told the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, February 18.

The NATO Secretary General emphasized that the risk of escalation will always exist, and there are no options that exclude it, but "the biggest risk is that Putin will win."

According to him, the victory of the Russian Federation will be a signal for other authoritarian regimes, which will make the world more dangerous. He also noted that it is important to strengthen the military potential.

"Wars are unpredictable, we don't know when and how this war will end, but I know for sure that even if it ends tomorrow, security conditions have changed, and there is no going back to the past," NATO Secretary General said.

Earlier on the same day, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, called on partners to "double" military support for Ukraine. "We must double and continue the really massive support (of Ukraine. - Ed.), which is necessary for these imperialist plans of Putin to completely fail," von der Leyen said.
