The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia announced on Friday that it is expelling an employee of the Russian Federation embassy from the country.

 This is stated in a statement on the department's website.

 According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomat took an active part in undermining the security and constitutional system of Estonia.

 "On March 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Russian embassy and handed over a diplomatic note declaring a member of the embassy's diplomatic staff persona non grata," the statement reads.

 The ministry noted that the person's activities violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and the embassy employee must leave Estonia by March 29.

 "This diplomat was engaged in direct and active undermining of the security and constitutional order of Estonia, spread propaganda justifying Russia's military actions, and caused division in Estonian society," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

 According to the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia adopted in January, only eight diplomats and 15 members of the administrative, technical and service staff can work in the Russian embassy in Tallinn from February 1. Before that, 21 diplomats and 23 employees without diplomatic status worked in the Russian embassy.

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia previously noted that this ensures parity with the number of employees of the Estonian embassy in Moscow.

 Currently, Estonia does not have its ambassador in Moscow, and Russia does not have an ambassador in Tallinn.

 It will be recalled that the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaia Kallas, considers it wrong to talk about the relaxation of sanctions, as demanded by Russia for the export of its fertilizers and grain.
