President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі visited Sumy region today. During the trip, he presented Okhtyrka with the "Hero City" honorary award.

 "It is an honor for me to present Okhtyrka today with the honor of a hero city, a defender city, a victorious city. In Sumy Oblast, in our Okhtyrka, we honor the true Cossack courage and indomitability of our people - our heroes, all Ukrainian men and women," he said Zelenskyі.

 He emphasized that in this city, as in many others, people fought for their land and thus for the whole of Ukraine.

 "Those who destroyed the Russian columns here and thus broke all the enemy's plan against Ukraine, against the Ukrainian people. Those who helped each other in Okhtyrka, in the neighboring cities, towns, villages in the spring of last year and thereby won back time for many from the enemy Ukrainian springs. Free springs!" - emphasized the president.

 It should be noted that yesterday was exactly one year since the active phase of the battles for Okhtyrka of the Sumy region ended.
