Germany will not issue visas to Russian athletes - the statement of the minister of Germany

Germany will not let Russian athletes into its territory. There they decided not to issue visas to representatives of the country that started the war in Ukraine.

The Minister of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Pfizer, informed the German publication ntv about this.

The official believes that the admission of Russians to international competitions would be "a slap in the face to Ukrainian athletes."

"Countries that host major sporting events are not powerless. They can control whether Russians can actually participate by issuing visas. If we organize international competitions in Germany, we can act accordingly. To offer war ideologue Putin a stage for propaganda means to betray all the values of sport," she said.

We will remind, at the end of March, the International Olympic Committee allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions in a neutral status.

It is known that from now on Ukrainian athletes will boycott competitions in which Russians and Belarusians will compete. This decision was adopted by the Government.

Also, the host of the 2024 Olympics, France, and a number of other countries called on the International Olympic Committee to remove athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in the games in Paris. The athletes of the aggressor countries failed to speak out against the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.
