Since the beginning of the aggressive war against Ukraine, Russia has become significantly less important for German foreign trade.

 In February of this year, the monthly value of all goods imported from the Russian Federation to Germany amounted to only about 300 million euros, which is 91% lower than a year earlier, the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden reports.

 In particular, the supply of Russian energy carriers, which played an important role in trade between the two countries before the start of the war on February 24, 2022, collapsed.

 Imports of Russian oil and natural gas fell from €2.2 billion in February 2022 to just €4.2 million a year later (a 99.8% drop).

 Imports of coke and refined products fell from EUR 353 million to EUR 30 million (minus 91.4%).

 Coal imports fell by 92.5% to 26 million euros.

 In general, Russia dropped from 11th to 46th place among the most important suppliers of goods to Germany.
