The Parliament of Moldova removed the immunity from the leader of the key pro-Russian party "Shor"

On May 26, the Parliament of Moldova deprived the deputy of the pro-Russian party "Shor" and its vice-chairwoman Marina Tauber of her parliamentary immunity in order to take her case to court.

 This was reported by Newsmaker.

The decision was made at a session of the parliament at the request of acting Prosecutor General Ion Muntan. He said he intends to take the case, which charges Tauber with three felonies, to court.

It is about falsifying the campaign finance report during the 2021 mayoral election in Beltz, knowingly accepting funding from a criminal group and allowing the illegal financing of the Shor party by a criminal group from July 13, 2022 to May 1, 2023.

Tauber, who is under house arrest, did not come to the parliament session. On the eve of May 25, she said that all the cases in which she appears are "sewn with white threads."

Last year in May, Tauber was already stripped of his immunity, allowing prosecutors to detain the deputy. From July to September, Tauber was under arrest in prison. Then she was transferred to house arrest and judicial control. And in May 2023, the deputy was detained at the airport. She was supposed to fly to Israel. Tauber is currently under house arrest.

Tauber has pleaded not guilty and considers himself a victim of political persecution by the opposition.
