Poland extends grain import ban: Ukraine plans to appeal to WTO arbitration

Ukraine will appeal to the World Trade Organization's arbitration because Poland has decided to extend its ban on grain imports. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Twitter account.

The head of the Ukrainian government emphasized that Ukraine complies with its obligations under both the Association Agreement with the EU and WTO rules.

Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine does not seek to harm Polish farmers and greatly appreciates the support of the Polish people and Polish families.

"However, in case of violation of trade law in favor of pre-election political populism, Ukraine will be forced to apply to the WTO arbitration for compensation for damages for violation of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade," Shmyhal added.

Earlier, we reported that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki confirmed his country's final decision not to open the border to import Ukrainian grain. In his post on Twitter, Morawiecki emphasized that Poland would not allow the import of Ukrainian grain, regardless of the decision of the EU officials.
