UK provided support to Ukraine in demining and mine clearance

The United Kingdom has provided Ukraine with a significant amount of equipment and training for the Ukrainian military to improve their demining and mine clearance capabilities. This was reported by the press service of the UK Ministry of Defense.

More than 1500 sets of equipment were delivered, designed for demining and ammunition disposal both on military equipment and for use by personnel. This also included the necessary training.

The Royal Engineer Corps deminers provided training for the Ukrainian military in the disposal of mines, ammunition and other explosive devices, which are actively used in Ukraine and are one of the main threats to the safety of the civilian population.

This extensive and specialized training package included training the Ukrainian military on the definition of ammunition, methods of disposal, and search procedures for dealing with improvised explosive devices, mines, and booby traps.

The training also included hazard awareness training, mine clearance operations planning and practical exercises in clearing both open areas and various engineering structures.

In the final certification, search teams consisting of Ukrainian soldiers with an assigned commander completed training tasks in difficult conditions.

The soldiers were also trained in the use of metal detectors and mine detection and clearance kits, including equipment provided by the UK, such as VALLON detectors.
