On Friday, the British government announced new sanctions against Russia in connection with the "elections" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported in an official statement by the British government.
"Fictive Russian 'elections' are a futile attempt to legitimize its illegal control over sovereign Ukrainian territory. You cannot hold 'elections' in a foreign country. The United Kingdom will never recognize Russia's claims to Ukraine's territory. Crimea, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson are Ukraine," said Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
The new list of sanctions includes 11 individuals and entities, including the Central Election Commission of Russia, CEC Secretary Natalia Budarina, "the head of the election commission of Kherson region" Marina Zakharova, and "the head of the election commission of Zaporizhzhia region" Andriy Oleksiyenko.
In total, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on 1,600 individuals and entities in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
