Court in Serbia: Ex-SBU General Naumov will not be extradited to Ukraine

In Serbia, the Court of Appeal in Niš confirmed the decision of the Higher Court of First Instance to finally refuse to extradite Andriy Naumov, former general of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, to Ukraine, Radio Liberty reports.

This decision legally consolidates the previous court verdicts in Serbia on the non-extradition of Naumov at the request of Ukraine.

The extradition request from Ukraine to Serbia was received in mid-October 2022. Naumov himself opposed his extradition to Ukraine, arguing that his safety would be at risk.

In Ukraine, Naumov was reported on suspicion of "appropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property by abuse of office", fraud and causing damage to the state in the amount of more than UAH 3.2 million.
