Belgium calls for sanctions against Israel

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Petra de Sutter called for consideration of sanctions against Israel and an investigation into the explosions in hospitals and refugee camps in Gaza, Reuters reports.

"The time has come for sanctions against Israel, which does not care about international ceasefire requirements," she said.

In particular, de Sutter proposed that the European Union terminate the association agreement with Israel and impose an embargo on imports of products from the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.

In addition, the official called for an investigation into IDF bombings of civilians in Gaza and a ban on entry for Israeli politicians and statesmen suspected of war crimes.

At the same time, she said, Belgium should increase funding for the International Criminal Court in The Hague to investigate the bombings by cutting off Hamas' cash flow.

"This organization is terrorist, and terror costs money. So there should be sanctions against companies and people who provide Hamas with money," de Sutter said.
