The governments of the Czech Republic and Taiwan signed an agreement on joint work on the reconstruction of Ukraine on Friday. This was reported by Reuters.


The agreement between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, signed by the de facto ambassadors in the capitals of both countries, provides for joint work on the restoration of water and energy systems.


Taiwan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Roy Lee, noted that the unity of democratic countries is the key to deterring authoritarian decisions. Ukraine has received widespread support in Taiwan after Russia's invasion, and the Taiwanese see analogies to their situation, given China's view that it considers Taiwan its territory.


Taiwan has also donated more than $100 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine and joined sanctions against Russia. The country does not have official diplomatic ties with any European country, but it has demonstrated active support for Ukraine's recovery, which contributes to deepening international ties.
