President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which the politicians decided to start working on bilateral security guarantees. Zelensky wrote about it on Telegram.
The leaders also discussed defense cooperation and the need for the European Union to adopt the 12th package of sanctions against Russia as soon as possible.
Zelensky thanked Meloni for Italy's personal efforts and decisive actions in support of Ukraine, and expressed hope for achieving important results during Italy's G7 presidency next year.
In addition, Zelensky invited her to participate in the second "Grain from Ukraine" summit.
