Ukrenergo predicts electricity shortage tonight

Due to a decrease in the average daily temperature in Ukraine, energy consumption is increasing. Ukrenergo predicts a shortage of electricity in the power system in the evening hours from 16:00 to 18:00. At the same time, there are no plans to introduce blackout schedules.

The company noted that on November 29, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the morning, between 10:00 and 11:00, and it was 3% higher than the corresponding figure for the coldest day of autumn - November 27.

"Today, on November 30, the forecasted average daily temperature is much lower (-4 °C), which encourages consumption to grow. This indicator is also affected by the simultaneous connection of thousands of consumers who were cut off due to the weather. The power system is overloaded," the company said in a statement.

Ukrenergo asks to consume electricity sparingly during the day and until 18:00.

The power company also reported that a combined heat and power plant in the southern region was damaged by shelling at night: "There is damage to buildings and equipment. The heat supply to consumers was not interrupted, the possibilities for electricity supply are limited."

At the same time, a unit at one of the thermal power plants has been restarted.

Overall, the electricity generated by Ukrainian power plants is still sufficient to meet the needs of household and legal consumers. In particular, solar power plants have increased their electricity production.

Today, electricity imports are scheduled mainly at night and in the evening from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova. The total volume is 690 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 275 MW in some hours.
