Ukrainian carriers who are standing at the border near the Korczowa-Krakowiec checkpoint due to protests by Polish drivers have announced their intention to go on a hunger strike. This was reported by Radio Liberty on December 1.


Roman Vlasyuk, an international transportation driver, told reporters that they tried to connect Ukrainian drivers with Polish protesters, but the police prevented this communication.


"We were blocked in the middle of the field. There are about 200 of us here. The police said that according to their laws, a congregation of people in such numbers is not allowed. They are in full ammunition, with tear gas canisters, pepper spray," he said.


According to Vlasyuk, the previous agreement on the passage of seven vehicles per hour was violated: "The agreement was broken, and we were again limited to one truck per hour.


At the moment, 2000 trucks are blocked at Korczowa, which means 2000 Ukrainian export vehicles are waiting."


The driver also noted that Ukrainian carriers demand compliance with the agreement on the passage of seven trucks per hour and that this number be further increased to 14 trucks per hour. Otherwise, they are ready to go on a hunger strike.


"We refuse to accept volunteer help. We are switching to water and tea only," the carrier said.


Videos have also been posted on social media showing drivers expressing their dissatisfaction with the violation of the agreement and announcing their intention to go on a hunger strike.
