Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tried to meet with the Brazilian president urgently, but he refused, local publication O Globo reports, citing sources.


While the President of Ukraine was flying to Argentina and stopped for two hours in Brazil to refuel the plane, he offered to meet with Lula Da Silva urgently.


Lula refused because he was participating in the Rio Summit at the time. The Brazilians were surprised by the Ukrainian president's sudden proposal, in which he did not even mention the topic of the talks.


"A meeting like this at an air base, without preparation and without prior notice, is very rare," says a diplomat familiar with the situation.


The Brazilian Foreign Ministry sent the Minister of Europe and North America to meet with him.
