Swedish Prosecutor's Office closed investigation into Nord Stream explosions

Swedish prosecutor's office have announced the closure of the investigation into the Nord Stream explosions due to lack of jurisdiction. It will continue in Germany, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The main purpose of the investigation was to establish whether Swedish citizens were involved in the explosions and whether Swedish territory was used for sabotage. Swedish investigators found nothing of the sort.

"The investigation was systematic and thorough. In particular, we analyzed the movement of a large number of ships to understand what happened. In addition, we conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene and several interrogations. We can now say that Swedish jurisdiction does not apply," said Mats Ljungqvist, head of the investigation team.

He said that the investigation in Germany is ongoing, so no further details can be disclosed.

"Due to the secrecy of international legal cooperation, I cannot provide more details on the findings of the Swedish investigation or talk about the suspects in the Swedish investigation," the prosecutor said.
